The 2018 Pacific Halibut season will begin at noon local time on Saturday March 24th and terminate at noon local time on Wednesday November 7th, as announced and approved by the International Pacific Halibut Commission (IPHC).  The IPHC meets annually bringing together halibut processors, fishermen and scientists to determine quota size, dates and current issues involving Pacific Halibut.

The commission did not agree on new Pacific halibut catch limits for 2018 and therefore the catch limits adopted in 2017 remain in place. The stock did not appear to be overfished based on current female spawning biomass and the 2018 catch limit will be further addressed in a May meeting.
